Ukrtelecom has officially announced the launch of the virtual mobile operator U Mobile and opened pre-orders for its services. The company has publicly confirmed the project for the first time, the preparation of which was previously reported by sources in the telecom market.

"Be among the first!", says a message from Ukrtelecom on Facebook with a link to the U Mobile website. Currently, it offers to leave a phone number and place a pre-order for the products "Optics+SIM" and "SIM".

The company said that details about the new products will be presented soon. The exact launch date, tariff costs, and the mobile network on whose infrastructure U Mobile will operate have not yet been officially disclosed.

What is known about U Mobile tariffs

U Mobile will operate on the virtual mobile operator model — MVNO. Such an operator does not build its own network of base stations but provides services under its own brand using the infrastructure of another mobile operator.

Previously, the telecom community MZU reported that Ukrtelecom intends to combine mobile communications and its home GPON optical internet into unified packages for private customers. This information is now partially confirmed by the appearance of the product "Optics+SIM" on the U Mobile website.

According to preliminary MZU data, standalone "SIM" mobile tariffs may include 15 or 60 GB of mobile internet, 500 minutes for calls within Ukraine, and 15 SMS. Unlike the four-week billing period common on the Ukrainian market, U Mobile plans to charge the subscription fee per calendar month — from the first to the last day.

It was also reported about a possible 15% discount for identified subscribers or customers who port their number to U Mobile through MNP, and an additional 5% with a promo code. Ukrtelecom has not yet publicly confirmed these tariff and discount parameters.

Ukrtelecom has already worked in the mobile market

The launch of U Mobile will mark Ukrtelecom's return to more active work in the mass mobile communications market. In 2007–2011, the company provided mobile services under the Utel brand; later this direction was continued by the associated company TriMob.

According to the telecom regulator, in the first quarter of 2026 TriMob had about 60.7 thousand mobile subscribers. At the same time, the company's own radio network has been significantly reduced in previous years.

Ukrtelecom remains the largest fixed-line operator in Ukraine and is actively expanding its optical infrastructure. According to the company, the length of its optical network exceeds 95 thousand km.

As early as August 27, Kurs reported on the preparation of U Mobile based on data from the telecom community MZU. At that time, Ukrtelecom did not publicly confirm the new brand. Now the company has officially announced the project and started collecting pre-orders, but the key launch conditions have yet to be disclosed.
