The PFU warned about a new scheme involving non-existent pension payments

A new fraudulent scheme is spreading in Ukraine, promising citizens additional pension payments in the amount of 3,200 to 5,300 UAH. The information about such supplements is not true.

This was warned by the Pension Fund of Ukraine. According to the agency, fraudsters spread messages through messengers and social networks, using logos, design elements, and a visual style similar to official state resources.

Such messages claim that the size of the allegedly new payment depends on the region of residence of the pensioner and their work experience. To receive the money, users are offered to follow a link, confirm the region of residence, or undergo so-called identification.

Fraudsters try to obtain bank details

The Pension Fund emphasized that no such additional payments of 3,200 to 5,300 UAH were introduced. The messages are used to make a person go to a phishing site and hand over personal information to criminals.

After following the link, the user may be asked to enter personal data or bank card details. The information obtained in this way can be used to access internet banking and steal money from accounts.

To increase trust, fraudsters copy elements of official design of state bodies. In addition, the messages use calls to act immediately — for example, "only today", "urgently", or "hurry up to get the payment".

How to verify information about payments

The Pension Fund recommends checking information about pensions, allowances, and social payments exclusively on official resources of state bodies. For state institutions, websites in the gov.ua domain zone should be used.

The PFU also urged not to follow suspicious links received in Telegram, other social networks, messengers, or SMS, and not to enter bank card details on unknown websites.

Particularly cautious should be messages in which receiving money is linked to the need to urgently follow a third-party link or provide bank details.

If a person has already handed over information to fraudsters or lost money, the Pension Fund advises contacting the Cyber Police and reporting the incident.

At the same time, Ukraine indeed has legislatively provided pensions, allowances, and separate social payments for various categories of citizens. However, the existence of real state programs does not confirm messages about additional payments in the amount of 3,200–5,300 UAH that are currently being spread in social networks.
