Fedorov agreed to become an adviser to the Italian Minister of Defense
Former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov has accepted the offer of the head of the Italian Ministry of Defense, Guido Crosetto, to become his adviser.
Fedorov reported this on August 28 on Facebook. Thus, the ex-minister confirmed his decision more than a month after Crosetto publicly announced his offer.
The Italian minister first announced this at the end of July. According to him, he called Fedorov the day after his dismissal from the Ukrainian government and invited him to come to Rome to cooperate as an adviser.
Crosetto then explained his decision by the experience of the Ukrainian ex-minister in the field of military technology and innovation. He called Fedorov one of the people who significantly changed the rules of modern warfare through the introduction of new technological solutions.
Crosetto wants to use Ukrainian experience
The head of the Italian Ministry of Defense noted that the armed forces of European countries are faced with the need to introduce new technologies much faster. According to him, the traditional model, in which military programs are developed decades in advance, no longer corresponds to the pace of technological change.
Crosetto called Ukraine's experience in using drones, digital control systems, and other military technologies particularly important for the transformation of European defense.
Fedorov headed the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine from January to July 2026. Prior to that, he headed the Ministry of Digital Transformation and held the position of Deputy Prime Minister.
After leaving the Ministry of Defense, Fedorov received several offers for further work. President Volodymyr Zelensky offered him to remain in the state team in another position, but the ex-minister refused these options.
Now Fedorov has confirmed that he accepted Crosetto's offer. The details of his powers as an adviser to the Italian minister and the specific areas of future work have not yet been publicly disclosed.
