Zelensky: Ukraine received from the United States information about meetings in Moscow

Ukraine received from the United States information about a series of meetings that the American side held in Moscow in recent days. This was stated by President Vladimir Zelensky on the evening of August 28.

According to him, Kyiv was in contact with Washington both on the eve of these meetings and after they were held.

“Today we received information from the American side about the meetings in Moscow that took place these days. There was a series of meetings. We spoke on the eve, and we are speaking now with the American side,” Zelensky said.

The president did not disclose the content of the information passed to Kyiv and did not specify which meetings were meant. At the same time, he thanked the United States for informing Ukraine and for the approach chosen by Washington in conversations with Russia.

“I thank for the information, for the necessary tone of the conversation with Russia. We value the coordination of steps and that America is promoting a quite realistic vision of what needs to be done and what must be done,” Zelensky noted.

According to the head of state, the key goal of international efforts should remain to stop Russia's war against Ukraine.

“Russia must end its war, all conditions need to be created for that to happen,” the president emphasized.

CIA Director visited Moscow

Zelensky's statement came after the visit to Moscow of U.S. Central Intelligence Agency Director John Ratcliffe. He arrived in the Russian capital on August 25 and held a series of contacts with Russian representatives.

The American side did not officially disclose the full list of participants and the content of the negotiations. The Kremlin previously stated that the visit was related to contacts between U.S. and Russian intelligence services and that a meeting of Ratcliffe with Vladimir Putin was not planned.

American media subsequently reported that during the trip, Washington urged the Russian side to enter into serious negotiations on ending the war against Ukraine and warned Moscow against further escalation in relations with NATO countries.

From Zelensky's statement, it follows that after the completion of these contacts, the United States briefed Kyiv on their results, but the president did not name specific agreements or the content of the data received.
