Russian forces attacked Ukraine with seven S8000 'Banderol' and 96 strike drones during the day on August 28. More than 70 of the launched drones were jet-powered, and the main direction of the attack was Kyiv.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

The new wave of air attacks lasted from 06:30 to 19:00. According to preliminary military data, air defense forces shot down or suppressed six S8000 'Banderol' and 73 strike drones during this time.

Most drones were directed at Kyiv

The Air Force separately noted that most Russian drones were moving in the direction of the capital.

A feature of the attack was the large number of jet-powered UAVs: the military classified more than 70 of the 96 strike drones launched by Russia as this type.

As of 19:00, the attack was not yet over. About ten jet-powered strike drones remained in Ukrainian airspace, so the final results of air defense operations at that time were still being clarified.

Thus, the figures published by the Air Force for downed and suppressed targets are preliminary.

Attacks continued since the night

The daytime wave followed a large-scale night attack. From the evening of August 27, Russian troops launched 164 drones of various types at Ukraine, about half of which were also jet-powered.

According to morning data from the Air Force, air defense shot down or suppressed 137 of these drones. Hits were recorded at 16 locations and falling debris of downed targets at another four.

Thus, on August 28, Russian troops continued air attacks almost without a prolonged break, and in the afternoon a significant portion of the strike assets were directed specifically at Kyiv.
