Russia intensified assaults on the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions
Since the beginning of the day on August 28, 207 combat clashes have occurred on the front. The most intense fighting continued in the Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka and Huliaipole directions.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this in an operational update as of 22:00.
Russian troops carried out 54 airstrikes and dropped 203 guided aerial bombs over the day. In addition, according to the General Staff, the enemy used 5,315 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,106 shelling attacks on settlements and positions of Ukrainian troops.
The most attacks occurred in the Pokrovsk direction
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops made 31 attempts to advance in the areas of Toretsk, Sofiivka, Vilne, Dobropillia, Novohryshyne, Kotlyne, Serhiivka, Udachne, Molodetske, Muravka, Bilyakivka and Novopavlivka.
According to preliminary data from the General Staff, Ukrainian defenders eliminated 45 Russian servicemen in this sector, and 13 more were wounded.
The Defense Forces also destroyed three units of special equipment and 18 enemy shelters. Two units of automotive equipment, a UAV control point, and 68 shelters were damaged.
In addition, in the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian units destroyed or suppressed 256 Russian drones of various types.
In the Kostiantynivka direction — 18 assaults
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the Defense Forces repelled 18 Russian assaults in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Illinivka and Novoselivka. As of 22:00, two more clashes were ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, 13 attacks by Russian troops were recorded in the areas of Rizdvyanka, Horkoho, Dolynka, Kopani and Yehorivka.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine attempts by the enemy to advance near Shyikivka, Hrekivka, Stavky, Lyman and Dibrova.
In the South-Slobozhanske direction, Russia attacked positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine eight times near Starytsia, Zakharivka, Okhrimivka and Volokhivka. Two battles were ongoing.
Fighting continued in other directions as well
In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian units stopped five attacks near Zakotne, Kryva Luka and Rai-Oleksandrivka, and one more clash was ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, five Russian assaults were recorded in the areas of Zapovidne and Yurkivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled four attacks near Krasnohirske and Novopavlivka.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled three attacks near Piddubne, Maliivka and Rybne, and one more was ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops made one attempt to assault in the direction of Novoosinove. The Defense Forces repelled another attack in the North-Slobozhanske direction.
In the Prydniprovske direction, no assault actions were recorded during the day. According to the General Staff, no significant changes in the situation occurred on other sectors of the front.
