Kyiv authorities want to revise curfew and traffic on bridges
Kyiv authorities propose to revise the security protocols in force in the capital, including the order of traffic on bridges during air raids. The algorithm developed jointly with the military is planned to be submitted for government review.
This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko following a meeting of the capital's Defense Council.
According to him, one of the main issues was an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding changes to the security protocols in force in Kyiv. After their revision, city authorities expect to formulate separate rules for the capital's operation in the context of the changed nature of Russian attacks.
«Together with the military, we will revise the procedure for organizing traffic on Kyiv's bridges during air raids. And we will propose the developed algorithm to the government», — said Klitschko.
So far, the specific rules for traffic on bridges proposed by the capital have not been made public. Their implementation will require coordination with the military command and the government.
The government is also considering changing the curfew
Kyiv's initiative has become part of a broader review of the rules for cities during prolonged air raids. Earlier, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced that the government is preparing new algorithms for enterprises, transport, logistics, the metro, and other infrastructure facilities.
Separately, the authorities are considering changes to approaches to the curfew and providing civilians with more prompt information about the nature of air threats. The final parameters of possible changes have not yet been approved.
Minister for Restoration, Infrastructure, and Transport Mykola Kalashnyk also reported that changes to the curfew regime are being worked out specifically for Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast. According to him, this is necessary for logistics, the movement of people, and the functioning of the economy.
In parallel, the authorities are considering a differentiated alert system depending on the type of air threat, as well as changes in the operation of railway stations and trains during prolonged alerts.
Prolonged alerts complicated the capital's operations
The authorities explain the need to revise the rules by the changing tactics of Russian attacks. Prolonged and repeatedly recurring air alarms simultaneously affect the operation of businesses, public transport, logistics, schools, kindergartens, and other urban infrastructure.
In the three days from August 27 to 29, 35 air alerts lasting a total of over 36 hours were declared in Kyiv. The government stated that under such conditions, existing algorithms need to be adapted while maintaining the priority of people's safety.
Thus, for now it is not about automatically opening bridges during every air raid or an already adopted reduction of the curfew, but about preparing new rules. Concrete decisions must be agreed with the military and approved by authorized bodies.
