Poland launched an investigation after arson at drone factory for Ukraine
The National Prosecutor's Office of Poland has launched an investigation into participation in foreign intelligence activities against Poland and committing a terrorist-type crime in connection with the arson of a company producing drones for the Polish and Ukrainian armies, according to Європейська правда.
"Today, the prosecutor of the Małopolska branch office of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Kraków initiated an investigation into participation in foreign intelligence activities against the Republic of Poland and committing a terrorist-type crime, which consisted in the intentional outbreak of a fire on August 31, 2026, on the premises of WB Electronics S.A. in Skarżysko-Kamienna by placing a charge containing flammable materials", – the statement reads.
As a result of the fire, warehouses were destroyed, and the amount of damage caused is at least 15 million zlotys, the prosecutor's office said.
The investigation is being conducted regarding a crime punishable by life imprisonment.
Since the morning, prosecutors participated in procedural actions at the scene, first from the District Prosecutor's Office in Skarżysko-Kamienna and the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Kielce, and then from the Małopolska branch of the Main Prosecutor's Office.
An investigation is being conducted in this case. No one has been charged yet.
The investigation is being conducted jointly with officers of the Internal Security Agency and the Provincial Police in Kielce.
Earlier it became known that a fire broke out at a plant of a Polish company producing drones for the Polish and Ukrainian armies; before that, an unknown person in a balaclava allegedly appeared at the facility.
Recall that earlier Latvia detained three of its citizens on suspicion of arson at a drone production plant in neighboring Estonia.
According to media reports, Berlin plans to directly declare Russia responsible for the appearance of a bomb-laden drone in Leipzig near a Ukrainian cargo plane.
