Russian attack halted operations at border crossing with Romania

The "Orlivka - Isaccea" border crossing on the Ukrainian-Romanian border temporarily stopped operations after a nighttime Russian attack with strike drones. Processing of people and vehicles is currently suspended, and cars are being redirected through other border crossings.

According to the State Border Guard Service, on the night of September 1, Russian strike drones of the Shahed type attacked the international ferry crossing point "Orlivka".

Hits were recorded on the building and on the territory of the crossing point. The attack caused fires, which were localized by SES rescuers.

The State Customs Service reported that due to the damage, the operation of the crossing point was temporarily suspended, and customs formalities are not being carried out. Border guards have also stopped processing persons and vehicles.

Ukrainian officials informed their Romanian counterparts about the situation. Vehicles that were heading through "Orlivka" are being redirected to other operational crossing points. Citizens and carriers were urged to take the restrictions into account when planning routes.

The Izmail District State Administration clarified that the Russian attack on the night of September 1 was directed at the border infrastructure of the Izmail district.

The State Border Guard Service noted that the "Orlivka" crossing point has previously suffered Russian strikes. The timeline for restoring its operation after the current attack has not been announced yet.
