Sybiha in Chisinau awards Moldovan Foreign Minister with the Order of Merit

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, during a meeting in Chisinau, presented his Moldovan counterpart Mihai Popsoi with the Order of Merit, II degree. The head of Moldova's Foreign Ministry was awarded by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his contribution to the development of relations between the two countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported this on September 1.

The meeting took place on Sybiha's way to Ireland, where he will participate in an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union countries.

Sybiha stated that the state award is a recognition of Popsoi's personal contribution to strengthening Ukrainian-Moldovan relations, as well as Moldova's consistent support for Ukraine.

"We highly value our close partnership and will continue to strengthen it, particularly in the format of the Odessa Triangle with the participation of Romania," — noted the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

During the talks, Sybiha informed his Moldovan counterpart about the latest Russian attacks on Ukraine. The ministers separately discussed Russia's strikes on border infrastructure.

Another topic was the joint path of Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union. Sybiha emphasized that both countries are ready for the opening of all remaining negotiation clusters, and called on EU member states to make the necessary decisions.

The foreign ministers also discussed joint actions against Russia's attempts to destabilize Ukraine, Moldova, and the region as a whole. Kyiv and Chisinau agreed to continue close coordination, including together with Romania.

Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania are developing trilateral cooperation in the format of the Odessa Triangle. Within its framework, the countries coordinate actions on regional security, European integration, energy, infrastructure, and countering Russian hybrid threats.
