Defense Forces hit Russian radar in Zaporizhzhia region

The Defense Forces of Ukraine hit a Russian radar station "Kasta" near Vyshneve in Zaporizhzhia region. The strike was carried out on September 1, and its results were confirmed by means of objective control, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

According to the military, strike drones hit the radar antenna and the hardware vehicle of the radar station directly.

This concerns the "Kasta-2E2" (39N6) - a mobile three-coordinate radar station of Russian production. It is designed to detect and track air targets, including at low and extremely low altitudes, determine their coordinates, and transmit information to air defense command posts.

The station is capable of detecting aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and drones, including low-flying targets. The stated detection range is from 5 to 150 km, and altitude up to 6 km.

A small-sized drone flying at an altitude of about 60 meters can be detected by "Kasta-2E2" at a distance of approximately 30-44 km depending on the antenna mounting height. The antenna mast of the complex can be raised to a height of up to 50 meters.

The estimated cost of such a radar station, depending on configuration, is from 60 million dollars.

This is not the first confirmed hit on the "Kasta" family radar recently. At the end of August, the General Staff reported a strike on such a station near Kacha in temporarily occupied Crimea. In addition, previous attacks confirmed the destruction of the "Kasta" radar near Karaichev in the Rostov region of Russia.
