Dollar rises for second straight day: what is happening on the interbank and with the cash rate

On Friday, September 4, the National Bank set the following official rates: - US dollar – 44.7273 UAH (+0.1180 UAH to the official rate for Thursday, September 3); - euro – 51.9382 UAH (+0.2949 UAH to the official rate for Thursday, September 3).

The rates were set at 16:00 on September 3 and reflect the following trends:

1. On the interbank currency market today the picture of yesterday was repeated. Immediately after the start, non-cash dollar quotes went up and by 11:40 reached 44.79 UAH on the "bid" position, despite the fact that the National Bank was actively selling currency all day. The average price of transactions at 12:00 was 44.7232 UAH – 15 kopecks higher than the day before. After 14:00 the growth of quotes stopped, and by the end of the day they slightly decreased. Therefore, the National Bank raised the official dollar rate for Friday by almost 12 kopecks.

2. The euro on the international FOREX market turned around today and went up, reaching 1.16303 dollars by the time of writing, which is higher than yesterday's levels. At the moment of fixing, the euro was sold at 1.16122 dollars – 35.4 pips higher than on Monday (1.15768 dollars). The euro's rise on FOREX combined with the rise in the official dollar rate, so the NBU raised the official euro rate for Friday by as much as 29.5 kopecks.

Cash dollar prices continued to rise in the first half of the day, but decreased somewhat after lunch. As a result, by evening in the capital the dollar rose by 1 kopeck compared to yesterday (to 44.81 UAH). In Kharkiv, Dnipro and Odesa the dollar added 2-3 kopecks in price, while in Lviv it, on the contrary, fell by 2 kopecks. The gap between cash and non-cash dollar rates continues to narrow.
