Russian drone hits a nine-story building in Kyiv: fire engulfed six floors

On the evening of September 3, a Russian drone hit a nine-story residential building in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. After the strike, a fire broke out on several floors at once, and damage was recorded on the ninth floor. 15 people were evacuated from the building, and one death has been reported.

This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the Kyiv City Military Administration.

According to Klitschko, the fire after the hit occurred from the fourth to the ninth floors of the nine-story residential building.

"There is damage on the ninth floor. All emergency services are heading to the scene," — said the city mayor.

Later he clarified that 15 people were evacuated from the damaged high-rise. Rescuers and other emergency services continued to work at the site of the strike.

The KMVA reported that one person died.

Information about those injured directly as a result of the hit on the nine-story building is being clarified.

Attacks on Kyiv continued throughout the day

The hit on the high-rise was preceded by a series of Russian drone attacks on the capital. By 15:40 on September 3, the air raid alert in Kyiv had been declared six times.

During the next attack at around 16:15, air defense forces were operating in the capital. In the following hours, city authorities began reporting the fall of debris from Russian UAVs in several districts at once.

In the Darnytskyi district, drone debris fell on the roadway. Cars were damaged and people were injured.

In the Holosiivskyi district, even before the hit on the nine-story building, drone debris was found in at least two other locations. Preliminarily, at one of them it fell on the territory of a residential complex, and at the other — near the roadway.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district, UAV debris fell into the yard of a private residential house. A car was damaged there, but no fire occurred.

Among the injured is a 12-year-old girl

By 17:51, city authorities were already reporting six injured as a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv. Four people were hospitalized.

Among the wounded was a 12-year-old girl, who was also taken to the hospital.

Two injured were recorded in the Darnytskyi district after drone debris fell on the road.

However, these data were published even before the report of a direct hit by a drone on a residential nine-story building in the Holosiivskyi district. Therefore, the final number of injured as a result of the evening attack may change.

Direct hit recorded in Holosiivskyi district

While the first reports from city authorities were mainly about falling debris from shot-down drones, in the evening Klitschko reported specifically about a hit on a residential high-rise.

The most serious visible consequences were recorded in the upper part of the building: the fire spread from the fourth to the ninth floor, and damage occurred on the top floor.

Fire and rescue units, medics and other city services are working on site. Specialists must inspect the damaged structures of the building and determine how safe it is for residents to remain in the house.

The Russian attack on Kyiv continued in waves throughout the day. The capital authorities urged residents not to ignore air raid signals and to stay in shelters until the official all-clear.
