Oil depot of Lukoil caught fire in Sochi after drone attack
On the night of September 4, a fire broke out at an oil depot in Russia's Sochi as a result of a massive drone attack. Russian local authorities confirmed the fire at the fuel facility, and Astra identified it as the Sochi oil depot of the company "Lukoil-Yugnefteprodukt". During the same attack, according to the publication's OSINT analysis, a Russian air defense division with an S-300 or S-400 system came under attack.
The operational headquarters of Krasnodar Krai reported about the fire at the oil depot. According to its data, drones attacked Sochi and the federal territory "Sirius", and debris was found at various addresses. Russian authorities preliminarily announced no injuries. Glazing was damaged in several residential buildings and structures.
In the morning footage from the attack area, thick black smoke is seen rising over the city. Astra also published a video showing what the publication says is the moment of a drone strike on the "Lukoil-Yugnefteprodukt" oil depot in the Adler district.
This is the Sochi oil depot of "Lukoil-Yugnefteprodukt". According to open industry data, its tank farm consists of 12 tanks with a total volume of about 8.4 thousand cubic meters. The facility is used for storing light petroleum products.
The scale of damage to the oil depot and the number of tanks that may have been affected have not been officially specified yet.
The air defense division was also hit
Astra, based on OSINT analysis of eyewitness footage, reported an attack on a Russian air defense division near Sochi.
The publication geolocated one of the fires in the area of Sergei settlement near the Psou river, not far from the border with Abkhazia. According to Astra, an S-300 or S-400 anti-aircraft missile system is located in this area. A fire broke out there after the attack.
The monitoring channel Exilenova+ also published several videos that it claims demonstrate the impact and subsequent detonation in the area of the S-400 position. There is no official confirmation of the type of system hit and the extent of its damage at the time of publication.
This area had been tried before. Astra reported that in May near the "Baltic Wings" beach, local residents noticed a large radar installed right by the coastline.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that during the night Russian air defense allegedly intercepted and destroyed 490 Ukrainian drones. There is no independent confirmation of this figure.
