Russian drone hits office of acting SBU chief in central Kyiv

A Russian drone struck the office of the acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Alexander Poklad, in the SBU building in Kyiv. At the time of the strike, the general was not in his office. This was reported by UP sources and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, according to Українська правда.

According to UP interlocutors, the drone hit Poklad's office in the SBU building on Volodymyrska Street in central Kyiv. The acting head of the Service was not there at the time of the strike.

After the hit, a fire broke out, the consequences of which are currently being eliminated.

Updated: Later, Zelensky confirmed that a Russian drone hit the central SBU building on Volodymyrska Street opposite St. Sophia Cathedral. According to him, the Russians were aiming specifically at the office of the SBU chief.

"The drone was aimed directly at the office of the SBU chief in this building. I gave Poklad the task to respond adequately, tangibly and, if possible, in a mirror manner to this strike when everything is prepared. Our military will support this response."

On Friday afternoon, a Russian drone struck the building of the Security Service of Ukraine in central Kyiv near the Zoloti Vorota metro station.

Witnesses told UP that an explosion was heard around 15:30, after which thick smoke began to rise in the Zoloti Vorota area.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported a fire in the Shevchenkivskyi district as a result of a UAV falling on the roof of a non-residential building.
