CEC recognizes Slobodyan and Myasyts as elected deputies from "Servant of the People"

The Central Election Commission recognized Olena Slobodyan and Andriy Myasyts as elected People's Deputies of Ukraine from the "Servant of the People" party. They are to take the seats of Andriy Zhupanyn and Ostap Shypailo, who have early terminated their parliamentary powers.

The CEC made the relevant decision on Friday, September 4. The commission received resolutions of the Verkhovna Rada of September 3 on the early termination of the powers of Zhupanyn and Shypailo due to their personal statements on resignation of mandates.

Both former deputies were elected in the snap parliamentary elections on July 21, 2019, in the nationwide multi-mandate constituency on the list of the "Servant of the People" party.

After the release of two seats, the CEC identified the next candidates in the party list by order. They turned out to be Olena Slobodyan, who ran as No. 166, and Andriy Myasyts — No. 167.

Slobodyan currently heads the Secretariat of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk. Myasyts is a lawyer and acting chairman of the High Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of the Bar.

At the same time, the CEC decision on recognizing them as elected does not yet mean automatic obtaining of parliamentary powers. For registration as People's Deputies, Slobodyan and Myasyts must submit the documents stipulated by the electoral legislation to the CEC no later than on the twentieth day after the official announcement of the decision.

After receiving them, the Central Election Commission must make a decision on registration of new deputies no later than in five days. They will acquire parliamentary powers after taking the oath in the Verkhovna Rada.
