Assistance for IDPs extended for another six months: who the decision affects
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has extended the possibility of receiving living allowance for internally displaced persons for another six-month period. The maximum number of such periods has been increased from five to six.
The relevant resolution was adopted by the government on Friday, September 4. The document was developed by the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine.
Thus, IDPs who meet the established conditions of the state program will be able to receive assistance for another six months. In total, the maximum period of such support can now reach six six-month periods.
Who will have payments extended
The government emphasized that the extension applies to recipients who still meet the criteria for assigning living allowance. One of the main criteria for a number of families remains the level of income.
In 2026, assistance may be extended for the next period if the average monthly total income per one recipient in the family does not exceed UAH 10,380. This amount corresponds to four living wages for persons who have lost the ability to work: from January 1, 2026, such living wage is UAH 2,595.
At the same time, for certain categories of recipients, family income is not taken into account when extending assistance. In particular, this applies to recipients of pensions up to UAH 10,380, persons with disabilities of groups I and II, children with disabilities under 18 years old, orphans and children deprived of parental care, as well as a number of related categories of recipients.
Payments to children will be extended automatically
Separately, the government changed the mechanism for extending assistance to children who are part of the IDP family and are entitled to payments.
For them, assistance for the next six-month period will be extended automatically. In this case, the family must meet the established property and other criteria of the program.
Earlier in 2026, the government expanded access for families with children to this assistance. Payments to children may be assigned regardless of the level of income of the parents, provided that the family meets the requirements for property status, actual place of residence, and other conditions provided by the rules.
How much IDPs receive
The amount of monthly assistance in 2026 has not changed. It is:
- UAH 2,000 — for adults;
- UAH 3,000 — for children up to 18 years old;
- UAH 3,000 — for persons with disabilities.
When assigning and extending assistance, property criteria are also taken into account. In particular, the rules provide for restrictions related to the presence of significant funds in bank deposits, purchase of foreign currency for large amounts, acquisition of certain property, and availability of housing suitable for living in territories where no hostilities are conducted.
In addition to extending the payment term, the Cabinet of Ministers clarified the procedure for appealing decisions of the bodies of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, which is responsible for the assignment and payment of this assistance.
