Government sends UAH 33.6 billion for payments to military and their families

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will allocate UAH 33.6 billion for payments to service members and their families. The funds will be redistributed from the reserve provided for the security and defense sector to timely finance the necessary payments in September.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretskyi announced this following the government meeting on September 4.

Of the total amount, UAH 25.9 billion will be directed for the September monthly monetary allowance of service members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Another UAH 7.7 billion is provided for one-time monetary assistance in the event of a service member's death, disability, or partial loss of working capacity.

Government names payments a priority

Koretskyi stated that monetary allowance for service members, support for their families, and supplying the Defense Forces with necessary weapons and other means remain unconditional priorities of the state.

All UAH 33.6 billion will be obtained through reallocation of funds from the special reserve of the security and defense sector. In this way, the government expects to ensure timely financing of September payments without changing their established amounts.

Government called to speed up decisions to receive aid

At the same time, the prime minister called on government members and people's deputies to accelerate as much as possible the adoption of decisions and laws necessary to receive international financial assistance.

According to Koretskyi, attracting external financing remains a necessary condition for balancing the state budget under current conditions.

Earlier, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko stated that Ukraine faced the most tense budget liquidity situation since the start of the full-scale war. Ukraine's preliminary uncovered external financing need for 2027 is estimated at $32.6 billion, with a base annual need of about $50 billion.
