A four-day silence regime is being introduced on the front line - sources

Units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine have received an order to observe a ceasefire on the line of combat contact for four days — from 00:00 on September 5 to 23:59 on September 8. At the same time, a ceasefire agreed with Russia along the entire front line has not yet been officially announced.

This was reported by sources in the Defense Forces. There is no public statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine about the introduction of a four-day ceasefire regime at the time of publication.

According to available information, the order to Ukrainian units comes into force on the night of September 5 and is in effect until the end of September 8. Other details of the document have not been publicly disclosed.

The silence regime coincides with a new US mission

The time frame coincides with the upcoming negotiations of representatives of the US President Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. They are supposed to first visit Moscow and then arrive in Kyiv. Donald Trump stated that his representatives are bringing a proposal to end the war to Russia and Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly confirmed on the evening of September 4 that Kyiv is ready to ensure the absence of airstrikes on its part during the trip of American representatives to Moscow and expects similar actions from Russia during the negotiations in Ukraine.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine will ensure the normal functioning of Russian airspace without Ukrainian strikes for the time needed for the visit of Witkoff and Kushner. Kyiv expects Moscow to observe the same silence regime for holding negotiations and ensuring the necessary logistics.

Mutual ceasefire on the front has not been officially announced

However, Zelenskyy's statement primarily concerned airstrikes during the US diplomatic mission. There is still no public confirmation that Ukraine and Russia have concluded a separate agreement on a complete cessation of hostilities along the entire line of contact from September 5 to 8.

The Russian side has also not publicly confirmed its readiness to observe a four-day silence regime on the front. Therefore, the existence of an order to Ukrainian units alone cannot yet be considered confirmation of a bilateral truce.

Witkoff and Kushner are expected to first hold negotiations in Moscow and then arrive in Kyiv on Sunday. The Ukrainian side expects to receive from them information about the Kremlin's reaction to the American proposal to end the war.
