Slovakia summoned the Russian ambassador after the Russian Federation's strike on the building of the Security Service of Ukraine in the center of Kyiv, which is located in close proximity to the consular section of the Slovak Embassy. Bratislava strongly condemned the Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, Juraj Blanár, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic.

According to the Slovak Foreign Ministry, a Russian drone attacked the SBU building near the consular section of the Slovak Embassy in Kyiv on September 4.

After the attack, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia decided to summon the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Bratislava. The Russian side was presented with Slovakia's position regarding the incident.

Blanár condemned Russian strikes on Kyiv

The head of Slovak diplomacy stressed that Bratislava strongly condemns the Russian attacks, which endanger the civilian population and may affect diplomatic missions of foreign states.

Particular attention in Bratislava was drawn to the fact that a Russian drone struck a facility located near the Slovak consular institution. According to official data, the consular section of the Slovak Embassy operates in the central part of Kyiv.

The Slovak Foreign Ministry emphasized the need to comply with international law and protect diplomatic missions.

Drone aimed at office of SBU head

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously reported that a Russian drone hit the central SBU building on Volodymyrska Street opposite St. Sophia Cathedral. According to him, the drone was directed directly at the office of the head of the Security Service, Oleksandr Poklad.

Poklad himself was not injured during the attack. As a result of the Russian strike, part of the building was damaged and a fire broke out. According to the latest data from city authorities, the number of people injured as a result of the attack on Kyiv has risen to 15.

After the strike, Zelenskyy instructed the SBU to prepare an "adequate and tangible", and, if possible, a mirror response to Russia.

Bratislava's reaction became a separate diplomatic consequence of the attack: the strike on the building of the Ukrainian special service occurred in close proximity to an object of the Slovak diplomatic mission.
