GUR attacked Russian aviation in Crimea: aircraft hit

Operators of the Active Actions Department of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on the night of September 7 struck a Russian aircraft on the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea. The extent of the damage to the aircraft is being established.

The operation was reported by the Active Actions Department of the GUR. The strike was carried out on the Day of Military Intelligence of Ukraine, which is celebrated on September 7.

“A gift for the Day of Military Intelligence of Ukraine. Crimea has already appreciated it! Tonight, operators of the Active Actions Department of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine struck an enemy aircraft on the temporarily occupied peninsula,” — the unit's report says.

The intelligence emphasized that the extent of damage to the aircraft is still being clarified. The type of the hit aircraft is not disclosed. Also, the GUR did not report the exact location of the operation and did not specify which means of destruction were used by Ukrainian fighters.

Thus, at the moment, only the fact of hitting the aircraft is officially confirmed. The GUR has not yet claimed its complete destruction.

The operation became another episode of strikes by Ukrainian military intelligence on Russian military objects on the occupied peninsula. In recent weeks, the GUR has repeatedly reported hitting air defense systems, radar equipment, and other military hardware in Crimea.

In particular, on September 4, intelligence reported a strike on the Russian coastal missile complex "Bastion", which can use Oniks anti-ship missiles, as well as Zircon missiles.

In August, the Group 13 unit of the GUR carried out several more operations on the peninsula. On August 10, intelligence reported hitting two launchers of the Russian S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft missile system and an antenna for controlling Orion drones.

Another target was the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile-gun complex. According to the GUR, it was hit together with a military crane during an operation in early August. For strikes on ground targets, multifunctional naval platforms Magura equipped with FPV drones were used then.

In addition, in early August, intelligence reported strikes on a control vehicle of the Podlet radar complex and the Parol-4 radar interrogator. These systems are used by Russian troops for detecting aerial targets and identifying objects.

The current operation differs in that its target was a Russian military aircraft directly. Additional information about its type and the consequences of the strike the GUR promised to clarify after assessing the results of the hit.
