Russia closes German Consulate General and Goethe cultural centers

The Russian Foreign Ministry has officially announced "retaliatory" measures in connection with Germany's actions after the attack at "Leipzig/Halle" airport, responsibility for which Berlin placed on the Russian Federation, according to Європейська правда.

The German charge d'affaires in Moscow was informed that Russia is closing the German Consulate General in St. Petersburg. The mission must cease its activities no later than September 18, and all its employees must leave the territory of the Russian Federation by that date, the Foreign Ministry noted.

In addition, the closure of the Goethe German cultural centers in the Russian Federation was announced. Employees of all branches must leave Russia no later than September 13.

The corresponding notes from the Russian Foreign Ministry were handed to the head of the German diplomatic mission in Moscow.

The Russian ministry stated that it made these decisions "in connection with the unfriendly actions of the German side in closing the Russian Consulate General in Bonn and the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin".

It is worth noting that Berlin resorted to these diplomatic measures after officially announcing Russia's direct involvement in the hybrid attack at Leipzig airport in early August.

Recall that on August 4, a drone with explosives was found at "Leipzig/Halle" airport near a Ukrainian cargo plane "Antonov" that was used to transport military cargo.
