Germany announced the transfer of PAC-2 missiles to Ukraine from Bundeswehr arsenals

Germany will transfer PAC-2 interceptor missiles to Ukraine from its own arsenals and calls on other states to follow its example, according to Європейська правда.

This was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius before the start of the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (the "Ramstein" format), which takes place on September 8 in the format of a video conference.

Pistorius announced the transfer of PAC-2 missiles to Ukraine from Bundeswehr stockpiles.

"I have decided to urgently supply Ukraine with the extremely necessary PAC-2 interceptor missiles from Bundeswehr stockpiles. I appeal to all UDCG members with a call to review their own stockpiles and make similar deliveries", Pistorius said.

He stressed that air defense is the most urgent need of Ukraine.

Pistorius did not specify exactly how many missiles will be transferred.

"Since Russia is advancing on the front line very slowly, it is trying to destroy the economic base and critical infrastructure of Ukraine with air raids on port facilities, power plants and other civilian targets. Unfortunately, we can expect Russian air raids to become more frequent again as soon as temperatures drop, and then the damage will be even greater", predicted the German Defense Minister.

He called on all allies to "take the right measures to strengthen Ukraine's resilience".

"I realize that it is not easy to achieve a balance between one's own security requirements and the urgently needed support for Ukraine. But please, if you are in doubt, decide in favor of Ukraine. From NATO's point of view, further substantial deliveries by allies of Patriot interceptor missiles are acceptable", Boris Pistorius stressed.

As reported by "European Pravda", on the same day it became known that the EU agreed to purchase Patriot missiles for Ukraine worth 3.2 billion euros.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas announced that several EU member states made new promises regarding the transfer of interceptor missiles to Ukraine during an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Wicklow (Ireland) on September 2.

On September 8, it became known that the UK is allocating 100 million pounds sterling (135 million dollars) for a package (within the PURL initiative) of air defense means for Ukraine ahead of winter, which includes missiles for the Patriot system.
