Germany launches project to protect Ukrainian cities from missiles and drones

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced the launch of the "City Dome" project, which aims to create a shield to protect Ukrainian cities from attacks by Russian missiles and drones, according to Європейська правда.

Pistorius made this statement before the start of the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format), which is being held on September 8 as a video conference.

Germany is joining the "City Dome" project, designed to protect Ukrainian cities from Russian attacks.

"I am pleased that the important City Dome project is now being implemented. Within this project, Germany will support the creation of a shield to protect Ukrainian cities from drone and missile attacks", Pistorius said.

He added that, in addition to strengthening Ukraine's air defense, Germany is making a significant contribution to building up other capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"We will continue continuous deliveries of long-range drones and ammunition to stabilize the front. In addition to current support measures, Germany will finance several tens of thousands of long-range artillery shells. The ammunition will be purchased through the British Artillery and Air Defense Consortium and provided to Ukraine", the German Defense Minister said.

As reported by "European Pravda", Ukraine will also purchase several thousand IRIS-T missiles from Germany with EU funds.

In addition, on September 8 at Ramstein, Germany announced the transfer of PAC-2 missiles from Bundeswehr stockpiles to Ukraine.

It was also revealed that the EU has agreed to purchase Patriot missiles for Ukraine worth 3.2 billion euros.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom is allocating 100 million pounds sterling (135 million dollars) for an air defense package (under the PURL initiative) for Ukraine ahead of winter, which includes Patriot missiles.
