Government fully compensates contract tuition for children of veterans in the 2026/2027 academic year

The Cabinet of Ministers has extended the program of full compensation for contract tuition fees for children of veterans (both male and female) for the 2026/2027 academic year. The support applies to students of institutions of higher and pre-higher professional education.

This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi.

The state will compensate 100% of the tuition cost for the relevant academic year. Funds will not be paid directly to students; the Ministry of Veterans Affairs will transfer them directly to the educational institution.

How to get compensation

To participate in the program, a student must contact their educational institution and provide documents confirming their right to state support.

After verifying the information, a special certificate will be generated in the "Diia" application. It must be confirmed within 20 calendar days.

After confirmation of the certificate, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs will transfer the necessary amount directly to the university, college, or other relevant educational institution.

If the student or their family has already paid for tuition in full or in part, the educational institution itself must refund the money paid after receiving state compensation.

Over 320 million UAH to be allocated for the program

According to the Minister of Veterans Affairs Vitalii Kim, the government is allocating over 320 million UAH to pay for contract tuition of veterans' children in the 2026/2027 academic year.

The program provides compensation for one year of study, particularly for children of fallen defenders of Ukraine, combatants, persons with disabilities resulting from war, as well as veterans who are captured or considered missing in action.

Compensation is also provided for some other categories that have the relevant status under legislation on social protection of veterans and injured participants of the Revolution of Dignity.

In addition, the procedure has been simplified for children of fallen defenders. If a student was unable to confirm the certificate in "Diia" on time due to a technical failure, it is now possible to generate it again.
