General Staff names the hottest front-line areas as of September 8
Since the start of the day on September 8, 205 combat clashes have occurred on the front. The most intense fighting continues on the Pokrovsk axis, where Russian forces attempted 39 times to break through the defenses of the AFU.
This is stated in the operational update from the General Staff of the AFU as of 22:00.
During the day, Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 52 airstrikes, using 186 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the enemy employed 5,876 kamikaze drones for attacks and conducted 1,873 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements.
The most intense fighting is on the Pokrovsk axis
On the Pokrovsk axis, Russian forces conducted 39 attacks. They attempted to advance toward Dorozhne, Bilytske, Novyi Donbas, Vodyane, Shevchenko, Nadiya, Myrne, Serhiivka, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Novopidhorodne, and Novopavlivka. As of 22:00, four combat engagements were still ongoing.
According to preliminary data from the General Staff, during the day on this sector, Ukrainian defenders eliminated 54 Russian servicemen, and another 16 were wounded.
The Defense Forces also destroyed four vehicles, one special technical facility, a UAV control post, and 37 shelters of Russian personnel. Three artillery pieces, six vehicles, four UAV control posts, and 115 shelters were damaged.
Additionally, Ukrainian units destroyed or suppressed 291 drones of various types.
15 attacks occurred on the Kostiantynivka axis
On the Kostiantynivka axis, the Defense Forces repelled 15 Russian assaults near Kostiantynivka and in the directions of Novoselivka, Mykolaipillia, Sofiivka, and Kucheriv Yar. One battle was still ongoing at the time of the report.
On the Lyman axis, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight enemy attempts to advance in the areas of Shyikivka, Druzheliubivka, Novoselivka, Lyman, and Dibrova. Four attacks were ongoing.
Another seven attacks were recorded on the South Slobozhanske axis — toward Lyman, Starytsia, Vovchansk, Chaikivka, Mala Vovcha, and Ustynivka. Two combat engagements had not concluded at the time of the report.
On the Sloviansk axis, Russian forces attempted six times to advance in the areas of Yampil, Kryva Luka, Kalenyky, Mykolaivka, and Rai-Oleksandrivka. One battle was ongoing.
On the Kupiansk axis, the enemy conducted four assault actions toward Kupiansk, Kurylivka, and Novoosinove.
On the Huliaipole axis, the Defense Forces repelled four attacks near Dobropillia, Rozhdestvenka, and Charivne. On the Oleksandrivka axis, Russian forces attacked toward Rybne and Shevchenko.
On the Kramatorsk, Orikhiv, and Prydniprovske axes, Russian forces did not conduct any assault actions during the day.
