Only 18 verdicts have been handed down in fraudulent call center cases in Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion

At least 18 verdicts in cases related to the activities of fraudulent call centers have been handed down by Ukrainian courts since the beginning of 2022. They involve 27 accused, but only in two cases have actual prison sentences been imposed.

This is according to data from the court register search engine "Babusia", analyzed by Opendatabot.

The cases are under Criminal Code articles on fraud, creation of a criminal organization, and unauthorized interference with the operation of computers, systems, and networks.

Only one relevant verdict was recorded in 2022. Since the beginning of 2026, courts have already issued five such decisions – as many as in the whole of 2024.

Only two received actual prison terms

In 14 out of 18 verdicts, courts formally sentenced the accused to imprisonment. However, in 12 cases, the convicted were released from serving their sentences with probation.

Actual prison terms were imposed on only two defendants – for 5 and 8 years.

Another accused received two years of restriction of liberty, which is served in a correctional center without full isolation from society. In three cases, courts limited themselves to fines from 51 thousand to 68 thousand UAH.

Most verdicts in Dnipropetrovsk region

More than half of all identified decisions – 10 out of 18 – were handed down by courts in Dnipropetrovsk region.

Two verdicts each are from Kharkiv, Odesa, and Zakarpattia regions. One decision each was issued by courts in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
