Investigation confirmed that drugs were planted on ex-battalion commander of the 47th Brigade Shirshin: military personnel detained
Law enforcement officers have exposed three servicemen suspected of organizing a provocation against the former commander of a battalion of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade "Magura". According to the investigation, the ex-battalion commander was illegally surveilled, his car was broken into and about 30 packets of narcotic and psychotropic substances were planted there, after which information was passed to law enforcement officers for his detention.
This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Bureau of Investigation and the National Police.
Officially, law enforcement agencies do not name the victim, but according to the circumstances of the case, it is about the former commander of the battalion of the 47th Brigade Oleksandr Shirshyn, who after the incident on August 28 publicly stated that the drugs had been planted on him.
The ex-battalion commander was followed before the drugs were planted
According to the investigation, the three figures are former law enforcement officers who now serve in one of the military units of the Defense Forces.
Law enforcement officers believe that they acted in conspiracy with other persons not yet established. The figures allegedly organized covert surveillance of the former battalion commander and illegally collected confidential information about him.
On the night of August 27 to 28, 2026, according to the investigation, they illegally entered the victim's car, which was parked near his house in Kharkiv, and hid inside about 30 zip-lock bags of cannabis and the psychotropic substance PVP.
After that, the figures passed information to the police and the Military Law Enforcement Service about the alleged transportation of drugs by the ex-battalion commander.
When he got into the car and went on business, they continued to follow him and passed information about the route to law enforcement officers.
The car was stopped in Kharkiv
On August 28, the car of the former battalion commander was stopped on Kooperatyvna Street in Kharkiv. During the inspection of the vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered narcotic and psychotropic substances.
Shirshyn himself immediately stated that the prohibited substances had been planted on him, and also reported the surveillance of him.
According to the SBI, the further investigation allowed to reconstruct the chain of events - from the illegal collection of information about the victim and surveillance of him to the entry into the car, planting of drugs and transfer of information to law enforcement officers.
The SBI stated that the goal of the figures was to discredit the former commander and create artificial evidence for his subsequent criminal prosecution.
At the same time, from the content of the messages of law enforcement officers it does not follow that the policemen who directly stopped the car were participants in the conspiracy. According to the investigation, they and the Military Law Enforcement Service employees were tried to be used for the detention of the victim on the basis of pre-created "evidence".
Three suspects were notified of suspicion
Three servicemen were notified of suspicion. The offenses incriminated to them relate to illegal entry into someone else's property, illegal collection of confidential information, illegal circulation of narcotic and psychotropic substances and an attempt to bring a deliberately innocent person to criminal liability.
Law enforcement officers are also preparing motions for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspects.
The investigation continues, law enforcement officers are identifying other persons who could have been involved in organizing the provocation.
Shirshyn reacted to the results of the investigation
After the reports of the Prosecutor General's Office, the SBI and the National Police, Oleksandr Shirshyn reacted to the development of the case on Facebook. He sarcastically asked whether those who, according to him, organized this story and spread false accusations against him would now apologize.
At the same time, the final guilt of the figures must be established by the court.
