Dollar continued to rise: NBU raised official rate for Thursday
For Thursday, September 10, the National Bank set the following official rates: - US dollar – 44.6462 UAH (+0.1768 UAH to the official rate for Wednesday, September 9); - euro – 51.6383 UAH (+0.3522 UAH to the official rate for Wednesday, September 9).
Rates are set at 16:00 on September 9 and reflect the following trends:
1. On the interbank foreign exchange market immediately after the start of trading, quotes went up, despite the National Bank's active participation in trading, and by 12:00 reached 44.715 UAH on the bid side. The average transaction price at 12:00 was 44.6346 UAH - 18 kopecks higher than the day before. In the afternoon, the NBU's intervention finally produced results: quotes stopped rising and even declined somewhat. However, the average transaction price at closing was much higher than yesterday's, so the NBU raised the official dollar rate for Thursday by 17.7 kopecks.
2. The euro on the international FOREX market today broke out of the narrow range in which it had been trading for almost three days and moved up, reaching 1.16542 dollars at the time of writing. At the time of fixing, the euro was sold at 1.1645 dollars – 33 points higher than on Monday (1.1612 dollars). Taking into account the increased official dollar rate, the NBU raised the official euro rate for Thursday by 35.2 kopecks.
Cash dollar price tags continued to rise, reacting to the growth on the interbank market. By evening, in Kyiv and Kharkiv the dollar rose by 3 kopecks compared to Tuesday evening, in Dnipro – by 5 kopecks, and in Odesa – by 10 kopecks. Only in Lviv did the dollar price almost not change, adding just 1 kopeck. However, cash market operators report to the “Kurs Ukrainy” portal that demand for cash currency is low, and there is a possibility that if quotes do not rise on the interbank market tomorrow, the cash dollar may start to become cheaper.
