Police show aftermath of drone strike on nine-story building in Kyiv

A Russian drone directly hit a nine-story residential building in the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv on the afternoon of September 9. The strike killed a woman and injured four others, including two teenagers. Police released photographs of the destroyed building.

After the drone hit the high-rise, a major fire broke out. According to law enforcement, the fire engulfed the premises from the first to the fourth floors of the building.

It has been preliminarily established that a 70-year-old female resident of the building died as a result of the Russian strike. Four other people were injured: a 74-year-old woman, a 69-year-old man, a 16-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old boy.

The photographs released by police show significant damage to the residential building after the direct hit. Some parts of the premises were burned out, and the facade, windows, and internal structures of the building were damaged.

Police officers, State Emergency Service rescuers, medics, and other emergency services are continuing to work at the scene. Law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of the strike and collecting evidence of another Russian attack on civilian infrastructure.

The first reports of the hit on the nine-story building appeared around 4:20 PM. Kyiv authorities then reported destruction and a fire. Soon it became known that a woman had died and one person was injured; later the number of injured increased first to three, and then police reported four injured.

The strike on the building occurred during another air raid alert in the capital. Russian drones attacked Kyiv repeatedly throughout September 9, with hits and falling debris recorded in several districts.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, as of the evening, the total number of injured as a result of Russian attacks on the capital during September 9 rose to 14 people. Among them are two children. One person was killed.

During the day, other residential buildings, warehouse premises, and cars were also damaged in Kyiv. Fires broke out in several locations, and rescuers and utility services continued to eliminate the consequences of the strikes.

At the same time, the figure of 14 injured refers to all attacks on Kyiv during the day, while directly as a result of the hit on the nine-story building in the Dniprovskyi district, police reported four injured and one dead.
