Kravchenko's resignation letter has not yet been received by the Rada – source

The resignation letter of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has not yet been received by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This is according to sources in political circles, according to Українська правда.

Ruslan Kravchenko, amid the investigation by NABU and SAPO into the "protection" of call centers, announced on September 7 that he had submitted his resignation from the post of Prosecutor General.

He made this statement after a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the head of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arakhamia.

Members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement agreed to promptly consider the president's submission to dismiss Ruslan Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General – as soon as the document is received by the parliament.

Background:

• On September 5, NABU and SAPO announced the exposure of a criminal organization. According to the investigation, it was led by one of the heads of structural units of the Prosecutor General's Office – Serhiy Kropyva. Members of the organization are suspected of systematically receiving bribes from fraudulent call centers and laundering property.
• On September 6, the court imposed a measure of restraint in the form of detention with an alternative of bail in the amount of 120 million hryvnias on Kropyva, deputy head of the Department of International Cooperation of the PGO.
• The next day, the High Anti-Corruption Court placed another suspect in the NABU-SAPO "Carthage" case, 24-year-old Yelyzaveta Ivakhnenko, under arrest for 60 days with an alternative of bail of 20 million hryvnias.
