Canadian PM explains how Ukraine will be supported ahead of winter

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced new measures to provide energy support to Ukraine, which will help it get through the winter, according to Європейська правда.

He said this at a press conference with the President of Ukraine, who arrived on a visit to Calgary.

Carney announced that Canada would make a contribution to the Ukraine Energy Security Fund. The funds will be used to restore energy infrastructure, expand energy storage capabilities, and ensure electricity supply for hospitals.

In addition, Canada will provide guarantees on loans for gas purchases totaling more than $430 million.

"We will also cooperate more closely in the energy and critical minerals sectors to ensure the reliability of supply chains", Carney added.

The Canadian Prime Minister also stated that the country will allocate 350 million Canadian dollars (253 US dollars) for the purchase of interceptor missiles for Ukraine's air defense.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney signed a Declaration on a 100-year partnership, which provides for the intention of the two countries to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
