Kremlin announces readiness to resume talks with Ukraine with US participation

Russia declares readiness to resume negotiations with Ukraine and hopes for a return to a trilateral format with US participation. However, specific agreements on a new meeting have not been announced.

This was stated by Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, reports Izvestia.

According to Peskov, Moscow remains open to continuing the negotiation process and hopes Kyiv will show similar readiness. The Kremlin also expects Washington's further participation in attempts to resume talks.

"We are open to this and also hope for Kyiv's openness, Kyiv representatives. And we hope for the continuation of peacekeeping efforts by our interlocutors from Washington", — the Kremlin representative said.

Peskov noted that the Russian side is counting specifically on resuming trilateral contacts among Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. However, he did not announce either a possible date for the next round or its venue.

Earlier, the Kremlin also stated that the United Arab Emirates was ready to provide a platform for new talks if the parties approached their holding. Moscow called the UAE's readiness useful, but also did not announce a specific meeting.

Meanwhile, Kyiv continues consultations with Washington. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on September 11 that he does not expect negotiations with the Russian side before the completion of parliamentary elections in the Russian Federation. In late September, the Ukrainian side expects to hold a new meeting with the American team in New York, after which further decisions on the negotiation process may emerge.

Thus, the statements of Moscow and Kyiv indicate interest in continuing mediation contacts with the US, but a trilateral round is currently not officially agreed upon.
