Rutte: attack on passenger train in Ukraine shows Putin's desperation

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte believes that Russia's attack on a passenger train locomotive in Ukraine near the Polish border demonstrates the desperation of the Russian ruler, according to Європейська правда.

He said this at a briefing with Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša.

According to Rutte, Russia is becoming increasingly irresponsible in continuing its war in Ukraine.

"Yesterday's attack on a passenger train in Ukraine near NATO territory shows Putin's desperation. He thinks he can stop us from supporting Ukraine, that he can undermine our unity. He is mistaken", – said the Secretary General.

According to him, the allies' response will be to increase support for Ukraine so that it has everything necessary for defense.

Rutte also stressed that NATO will do everything possible to protect every inch of the territory of the Alliance members.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas believes that the Russian attack near the Polish border was a "message to the Western world".

As a reminder, on September 13, Russia attacked a passenger train locomotive near the Polish border. Ukrzaliznytsia suggested that the Russian drone's target could have been a train carrying diplomats and politicians.
