Zelensky suspends Kravchenko as Prosecutor General

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has suspended Ruslan Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General. The corresponding decree No. 905/2026 was signed by the head of state on September 14.

The document states that the decision was made in accordance with part two of Article 11 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Legal Regime of Martial Law".

"To suspend Ruslan Andriyovych Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General", – states the decree.

The suspension is not, however, the final dismissal of Kravchenko. The procedure for his removal from office is carried out separately: the prosecutor general is dismissed by the president with the consent of the Verkhovna Rada.

Earlier on September 14, the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada supported Kravchenko's dismissal. Thus, the next step should be the consideration of this issue directly in the parliament's session hall.

Before that, Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a proposal for consent to Kravchenko's dismissal. The prosecutor general himself had previously submitted a resignation letter.

Kravchenko headed the Prosecutor General's Office since June 2025. His appointment also took place with the consent of the Verkhovna Rada.
