British Army soldier killed in Ukraine

A serving member of the British Armed Forces has died in Ukraine. His death occurred as a result of a road traffic accident and, according to preliminary data, is not related to combat operations.

This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defence, reports Sky News.

According to the British defence ministry, the soldier died on Saturday, September 12, as a result of a "road traffic incident". The Ministry of Defence did not disclose his name, unit, or circumstances of the incident.

The ministry explained that additional information will be released after a period allowing the family of the deceased to grieve without heightened public attention.

According to Sky News, the soldier's death is presumed not to have resulted from hostile actions. Further details of the incident are not yet available.

The United Kingdom officially acknowledges the presence of a limited number of its military personnel in Ukraine. They, in particular, provide security for the British diplomatic presence, support the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and conduct medical training. London has not stated the participation of its serving personnel in combat against Russian forces.

This is the second known case of death of a serving member of the British Armed Forces in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. Previously, Lance Corporal George Hooley died in an accident while observing Ukrainian military tests of a new weapon system far from the front line.
