Cabinet dismissed Karnaukh from post of head of Tax Service
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has terminated the powers of Lesia Karnaukh as acting head of the State Tax Service. Who will temporarily lead the agency in her place has not yet been reported.
This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi.
The government made the personnel decision on September 14. The reasons for terminating Karnaukh's powers are not specified in the prime minister's message.
Karnaukh had temporarily headed the State Tax Service since June 2025. Before that, she held the position of first deputy head of the STS. The Cabinet assigned her the duties of head of the agency until the appointment of the service's head in the established procedure.
During her tenure, the STS was responsible for administering key tax revenues under wartime conditions, reforming tax control, and digitalizing the service's operations. In particular, in January–August 2026, 947.4 billion UAH of taxes and fees administered by the STS were received into the general fund of the state budget.
As recently as September 14, Karnaukh publicly presented the Tax Service's new initiative to create a register of enterprises whose property was damaged or destroyed as a result of Russian aggression.
The State Tax Service is a central executive body that implements state tax policy and controls the receipt of a significant portion of budget revenues.
At the time of publication, the government had not announced who will perform the duties of the head of the STS after the termination of Karnaukh's powers.
