For Wednesday, September 16, the National Bank has set the following official rates: — US dollar – 44.6390 UAH (+0.021 UAH from the official rate for Tuesday, September 15); — euro – 51.5130 UAH (-0.0101 UAH from the official rate for Tuesday, September 15).

The rates were set at 16:00 on September 15 and reflect the following trends:

1. On the interbank currency market in the first half of the trading session, low activity was observed in the range of 44.65–44.685 UAH. The average transaction price at 12:00 was 44.6691 – 5.5 kopecks higher than on Monday. After 13:00 the National Bank increased the volume of its interventions, as a result quotes dropped to 44.603 UAH on the “bid” side. The average price by the end of the session slightly decreased, but still remained higher than on Monday. Therefore, the NBU raised the official dollar rate for Wednesday by 2.1 kopecks.

2. The euro on the international FOREX market traded on Tuesday in a narrow range of 1.1527–1.1552 dollars. At the time of fixing, the euro was sold at 1.15399 dollars – 7.7 points lower than on Monday (1.15476 dollars). Therefore, the NBU lowered the official euro rate for Wednesday by another 1 kopeck.

On the cash market no significant changes were recorded today. By evening in Kyiv the dollar rose by 1 kopeck compared to Monday evening; in Dnipro it added 3 kopecks, while in Kharkiv and Odesa, on the contrary, it fell by 1 and 3 kopecks respectively. In Lviv the price remained unchanged. As we can see, the cash market reacts ever more weakly to what is happening, having “felt out” a level that for now suits both buyers and sellers.
