Zelensky fired Kravchenko from position of Prosecutor General

President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Ruslan Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine. The relevant decree was signed by the head of state on September 15.

Document No. 932/2026 was published on the president's website. The reasons for the personnel decision are not specified in the decree.

Earlier on September 15, the Verkhovna Rada approved Kravchenko's dismissal. The corresponding resolution was supported by 317 people's deputies, with no votes against or abstentions.

The day before, on September 14, Kravchenko's dismissal was supported by the parliamentary committee on law enforcement activities. The submission for his resignation was introduced to the Verkhovna Rada by the president.

Kravchenko had headed the Office of the Prosecutor General since June 2025. Zelensky appointed him Prosecutor General on June 21, 2025.

Prior to his appointment to this position, Kravchenko headed the Kyiv Regional State Administration. He previously worked in prosecution bodies, including heading the Bucha District Prosecutor's Office and participating in the investigation of war crimes by Russian military personnel.

Who will become the next Prosecutor General has not yet been officially announced.
