Ukrainian military took control of Serednie in Donetsk region
Ukrainian servicemen completely cleared the settlement of Serednie in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region of Russian troops and took it under control. The operation was carried out without losses on the Ukrainian side.
This was reported by the commander of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 66th separate mechanized brigade, call sign "Bacon". The unit operates as part of the Third Army Corps.
The liberation of Serednie became part of the offensive operation "Vivaldi", which the Third Army Corps is conducting in the north of Donetsk region.
According to the commander, immediately before clearing the settlement, Ukrainian units worked for a long time to improve the situation around Serednie. After preparation, servicemen of the 66th separate mechanized brigade proceeded to offensive actions.
The brigade stated that Russian units were pushed out of the settlement, after which Ukrainian servicemen completely cleared it.
"The most important thing is that we carried out this operation without losses", — emphasized the battalion commander.
The 66th separate mechanized brigade previously confirmed that units of two mechanized battalions of the brigade participated in the ground part of the operation with the support of other forces. The military does not disclose detailed information about the routes of advancement, location of units and further plans.
Operation "Vivaldi" became a broader series of offensive actions of the Third Army Corps. On September 15, the corps commander, Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky, reported that Ukrainian forces cleared Novoselivka, Oleksandrivka, Yarova and the vicinity of Koroviy Yar of Russian infiltration groups, and also liberated Serednie.
According to the Third Army Corps, within the first stage of "Vivaldi", Ukrainian forces cleared about 75 square kilometers of territory from Russian groups and deoccupied about 10 square kilometers.
Biletsky emphasized that the published results relate only to the first stage of the operation, and called for focusing on further official reports of the corps.
