Explosion near TCC in Lviv region classified as terrorist attack: suspects detained

The Security Service of Ukraine has classified the explosion near the building of the territorial recruitment center in the city of Mykolaiv, Lviv region, as a terrorist act. Law enforcement officers have already detained suspects in connection with the attack.

The SBU Office in Lviv region reported this on September 17.

The explosion occurred around 4:30 p.m. near the entrance to the 2nd department of the Stryi district TCC and SP in Mykolaiv. According to initial information from the Lviv regional TCC, an unknown explosive device was thrown or placed from the street side.

A serviceman of the territorial recruitment center was injured as a result of the explosion. He was hospitalized in Mykolaiv central district hospital. Initially, the victim's condition was assessed as moderate.

After conducting initial investigative actions, law enforcement officers identified persons believed to be involved in the incident and detained them.

The SBU is investigating the incident as a terrorist act. The investigation is establishing all the circumstances of the preparation and commission of the crime, and also checking for possible other individuals involved.

Earlier, the Lviv Regional TCC reported that law enforcement officers and an investigative team were working at the scene immediately after the explosion. At that time, there was no information about the motives of the attack and suspects.
