As a result of the Ukrainian attack on the military airfield “Rostov-Centralny” in Rostov-on-Don, at least four units of Russian aviation equipment were completely destroyed. The consequences of the strike were confirmed by satellite images.

This was reported by the Ukrainian OSINT project “KiberBoroshno”. Analysts identified among the destroyed equipment two Mi-8 helicopters, an An-12 military transport aircraft and an An-26 aircraft.

Thus, the complete destruction of four out of six aircraft, the hit on which was previously officially reported by the Ukrainian side, is confirmed. The degree of damage to another An-26 and the third helicopter is not specified in the new message of the OSINT project.

SBU previously announced the hit on six aircraft

The attack on “Rostov-Centralny” occurred on the night of September 17. The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the operation was carried out by long-range drones of the Special Operations Center “Alpha”.

According to the SBU and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the strike one An-12, two An-26 and three helicopters were hit. A large-scale fire broke out at the aircraft parking area, after which secondary detonation was recorded.

President Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed the strike on the airfield and the hit on Russian planes and helicopters.

Initially, “KiberBoroshno”, analyzing the attack video, reported the hit on the transport aviation area and helicopter parking and awaited satellite images to assess the results. After the appearance of new images, analysts announced the complete destruction of four aircraft.

The airfield is used by Russian military aviation

“Rostov-Centralny” is located directly in Rostov-on-Don and is used by Russian military aviation. In particular, the 30th separate transport mixed aviation regiment is based at the airfield.

Its fleet includes military transport An-12 and An-26, as well as helicopters of various types. The airfield is involved in transport and logistics support of the Russian grouping of troops operating in the southern direction.

This is not the first attack on the facility in September. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine previously reported a strike on “Rostov-Centralny” on September 6. At that time, explosions and fire were also recorded on the territory of the airfield.

The Russian authorities did not publicly confirm the consequences of the September 17 strike on military aviation equipment.
