Russian aviation attacked Sumy: people may be under the rubble (Updated)

Russian troops on the evening of September 18 launched a strike with guided aerial bombs on Sumy and the outskirts of the city. One of the bombs hit a multi-story residential building; people may be under the rubble.

This was reported by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov.

"The enemy struck with guided aerial bombs on Sumy and the outskirts of the city. Unfortunately, there is a hit on a multi-story residential building. Preliminarily, people may be under the rubble," — reported the head of the RMA.

The strike occurred around 21:00. Correspondents of "Suspilne" also reported vehicle fires near the impact site.

Rescuers and other emergency services are working at the scene. Removal of rubble and search for people are ongoing. Information about possible fatalities and injuries, as well as the scale of destruction, is being clarified.

Update: Hryhorov later reported that two people had died. It is also known that seven people were injured, including a 13-year-old girl.

Three people are in serious condition.

Sumy regularly subjected to KAB strikes

This is not the first Russian airstrike on Sumy in recent days. On September 16, Russian forces also attacked the city with guided aerial bombs. Then hits were recorded in the residential sector and industrial zone.

One person died and nine were injured, including children. At least three private houses were destroyed, and more than ten were damaged.

Sumy region remains one of Ukraine's regions most regularly subjected to strikes by Russian aviation, drones, and artillery due to its proximity to the Russian border.
