Trump closes White House access to CNN, Politico and MS NOW journalists

US President Donald Trump announced that with immediate effect he is banning major media outlets – CNN, MS NOW and Politico – from the White House, accusing them of spreading fake news, according to Eurointegration.

As reported by "European Pravda", the American president wrote about this on his social network Truth Social.

Trump stressed that the media "should not be able to constantly publish fabrications and lies, covering the activities of the US President, the Trump administration or the United States of America".

"Other media spreading fake news will follow the same path", – he wrote, but did not name such media outlets.

As reported by dpa, the ban will deprive journalists affected by it of the opportunity to attend press conferences and media events in the Oval Office.

It remains unclear how broad this ban will be and whether journalists will also be prohibited from flying on government flights aboard Air Force One.

CNN reported that initially there were no signs that the administration had taken measures to implement the ban. On Friday afternoon its reporters remained in the White House. MS NOW also reported that its journalists were still in the White House and that no measures had yet been taken.

Politico told the dpa agency that it will continue to objectively cover events in the White House and will resolutely defend its rights against any attempts to restrict them.
