Trump promised to apply the "Graham law" if necessary

US President Donald Trump stated that, if necessary, he is ready to apply the "Graham law" concerning sanctions against Russia. The American leader made this statement during his speech at the UN General Assembly in New York, according to Європейська правда.

In his speech, the US President noted that last week he signed a "new powerful law passed by Congress" in honor of Senator Lindsey Graham, which grants him significant new authority to impose tariffs.

"If needed, I will be forced to use them. It is time to put an end to the killings," he said, speaking about the need to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Trump noted that the US is working closely with the leaders of Russia and Ukraine to achieve an end to the war.

"I think it (the end of the war – Ed.) will happen faster than people realize," Trump shared his hopes.

He also thanked First Lady Melania Trump for efforts to return "many displaced Ukrainian and Russian children home to their families".

On September 18, Donald Trump signed a bill on sanctions against the Russian Federation, one of the co-authors of which was the late Senator Lindsey Graham.

The US House of Representatives on September 16 passed a bill, co-authored by Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal, on imposing tariffs on countries purchasing Russian energy resources.

On August 7, the bill was passed in the US Senate.
