Zelensky and Trump discussed providing licenses for missiles for Patriot

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that US President Donald Trump "is positive" about providing Ukraine with licenses to produce missiles for the Patriot system, according to Європейська правда.

He said this in a conversation with journalists after meeting with Trump.

The President said that he asked the American leader to accelerate the process of establishing production of missiles for the Patriot system in Ukraine.

"We asked the President to help us accelerate this process. He is positive about the licenses", Zelensky said.

He noted that the Ukrainian side held talks with the manufacturer of Patriot RTX (Raytheon) and received a signal from it about readiness for such cooperation.

According to Zelensky, launching production of Patriot systems in Ukraine may take about a year to a year and a half.

"We will start this project. Again, I do not know whether it will take a year or a year and a half, but this is for the future... For Ukrainians, we have Patriot systems. We will need our own production of such missiles, even when we produce our own anti-missile system. But in any case, we count on Patriot", the President said.

It is worth noting that on July 31, US President Donald Trump, commenting on the possibility of granting Ukraine permission to produce interceptor missiles for Patriot systems, said that the US "must be very careful" in this matter.

Also, according to FT, in late July, US President Trump refused Volodymyr Zelensky his request for hundreds of additional interceptor missiles for Patriot, explaining this by the US's own needs in the Middle East.
