Teachers in front-line schools will retain a separate additional payment of 2,600 UAH

Teachers who work full-time or in a mixed format in schools in front-line and border communities will continue to receive a separate monthly additional payment of 2,600 UAH. The Cabinet of Ministers has redistributed 731.1 million UAH to ensure payments until the end of 2026.

This was announced by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi. The decision concerns teachers who directly work with children in areas where increased risks remain due to proximity to the combat zone or the Russian border.

After the redistribution, additional funding will be received by 90 local budgets in six regions — Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv. At the start of the 2026/2027 academic year, the payment is provided for 23,600 teaching staff in 614 schools.

Part of the allocated funds will also be used for final settlement for actual hours worked in January–August in communities where funding was previously insufficient. The remaining funds should ensure the separate additional payment for September–December.

From September 1, the remuneration mechanism for teachers has changed in Ukraine. The usual additional payment of 2,600 UAH for work in adverse conditions has been included in the official salary. Now, allowances for the prestige of work, years of service, and other payments are calculated from this salary.

At the same time, teachers in schools on front-line and border territories have retained another, separate payment of 2,600 UAH from the state subvention. It applies to school employees where the educational process is conducted full-time or in a mixed format.

Thus, it is not about the return of a general "teacher's" additional payment, but about additional support for teachers who continue to work directly with students in front-line and border communities.
