Dollar approached a new price target on the interbank market
For Friday, September 25, the National Bank set the following official exchange rates: - US dollar – 44.9729 UAH (+0.1158 UAH to the official rate for Thursday, September 24); - euro – 51.1220 UAH (-0.0644 UAH to the official rate for Thursday, September 24).
Rates were set at 16:00 on September 24 and reflect the following trends:
1. On the interbank currency market, for the third consecutive day, there is a serious increase in non-cash dollar quotations, despite the active interventions of the NBU. At 12:00, the average transaction price rose to 44.9517 UAH. After lunch, the dollar rose above the psychological level of 45 UAH and reached 45.043 UAH on the "bid" position. Only the strengthening of NBU interventions prevented it from consolidating at the reached level. The average price by the end of the trading session increased even more, so the NBU raised the official dollar rate for Friday by 11.6 kopecks.
2. The euro on the international FOREX market continued to fall against the dollar on Thursday, reaching 1.13593 dollars. At the time of fixing, the euro was sold at 1.13673 dollars – 43.7 points lower than on Wednesday (1.1411 dollars). Therefore, despite the increase in the official dollar rate, the NBU lowered the official euro rate for Friday by 6.4 kopecks.
On the cash market, the situation fully repeats what is happening on the interbank market. So, today in the afternoon in many cities the dollar was sold at 45.00 UAH and above, but by evening the price tags somewhat corrected the growth, reacting to the decrease on the interbank market. In wholesale exchange offices in Kyiv by evening the dollar could be bought at a minimum of 44.92 UAH, in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv and Odesa – at 44.98 UAH. As we can see, in Kyiv in the evening the dollar even became cheaper by 1 kopeck compared to yesterday, while in Dnipro, Lviv and Odesa it rose in price by 3 kopecks.
As reported to the "Course of Ukraine" portal by some cash currency market operators, demand for currency remained at the same level. No signs of any rush are observed. The reason is the slow and controlled growth of the dollar, with which the National Bank managed to calm the population.
