In Donetsk region, forced evacuation of families with children expanded
In Donetsk region, the area of mandatory evacuation of children in a forced manner has been expanded. The decision concerns certain settlements of the Sviatohirsk community, part of Sloviansk and the village of Sukhanivka in the Sloviansk community.
According to the Donetsk Oblast State Administration, the decision was approved on September 25 during a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for conducting evacuation measures and responding to mass population movement.
The Regional State Administration explained the expansion of the evacuation zone by the constant threat of Russian shelling and the need to preserve the lives and health of children. In the published statement, the administration has not yet provided a full list of settlements of the Sviatohirsk community and territories of Sloviansk covered by the new decision. Separately, it is noted that the evacuation applies to the village of Sukhanivka.
During the headquarters meeting, the organization of a new evacuation point for citizens was also approved. The regional administration stated that the need for its creation is related to Russian strikes on locations used for evacuation of the civilian population of Donetsk region.
Representatives of the Donetsk Regional State Administration also reported on the work of existing evacuation points and transit centers. Residents of the region in need of medical assistance after leaving are directed to healthcare facilities in safer regions of Ukraine.
This is not the first expansion of the zone of forced evacuation of families with children in September. On September 16, the regional authorities reported on inclusion of the villages of Adamivka, Hlyboka Makatykha, Nikolske and Khrestyshche of the Sviatohirsk community, a number of territories of Sloviansk, and settlements of the Novodonetsk community.
According to the Donetsk Regional State Administration as of mid-September, in eight settlements and territories where forced evacuation of families with children was already in force, there remained 387 minors. Of them, 203 children were in certain territories of the Kramatorsk community and Kramatorsk, 139 in certain districts of Sloviansk, and another 45 in the Sviatohirsk community.
After the previous expansion of the evacuation zone, the authorities also planned to evacuate another 51 children from the Novodonetsk community. Since early September, from areas where forced evacuation operates, as of September 16, 246 children had been evacuated: 194 from the Kramatorsk community, 34 from the Sloviansk community, 16 from the Sviatohirsk community and two from the Novodonetsk community.
In total, since the beginning of September, almost 11 thousand residents had left Donetsk region by that time. For evacuees, free centralized accommodation in safer regions of the country is provided.
The Donetsk Regional State Administration urged parents and other legal representatives of children not to postpone evacuation from territories where a relevant decision has been made.
