New water tariffs approved in Kyiv: how much residents will pay

New tariffs for centralized water supply and sewerage have been approved in Kyiv. For households, the total cost of services will be 63.79 UAH per cubic meter.

The corresponding order of the Kyiv City State Administration has already been signed and has passed the necessary approval procedures in the justice authorities. The document will enter into force after official publication.

Thus, for household consumers in Kyiv, the tariff for cold water and sewerage will be 63.79 UAH per 1 cubic meter.

At the same time, a higher tariff of almost 90 UAH per cubic meter, which was also discussed earlier, will not be applied to the population yet. The Kyiv City State Administration stated that the city, together with "Kyivvodokanal", intends to gradually bring the cost of services to an economically justified level.

The Kyiv City Council supported the decision on a phased change of tariffs back on September 3. The city administration explained that the new tariff for the population had actually been calculated and approved for "Kyivvodokanal" by the regulator earlier, but its introduction was postponed.

Kyivvodokanal explains the increase in the cost of services by a significant increase in the company's expenses. According to the company, the cost of electricity has almost tripled in recent years, fuel has doubled, and reagents have also approximately tripled.

In addition, the company pointed to the need to raise employee salaries and finance infrastructure repairs. The Kyiv City State Administration believes that changing tariffs should simultaneously avoid a sharp jump in payments for residents and improve the financial stability of the water utility before the heating season.

Earlier, most large water utilities in Ukraine have already raised the cost of water supply and sewerage to about 90 UAH per cubic meter and higher, the capital administration noted.
